Top 5 Reasons To Be A Tamartian

Top 5 Reasons To Be A Tamartian

People have been joining the Tamartian team left and right. And it’s evident, Tamar won’t stop until we get our “entire life!”

1. We have had “several seats” on the couch, watching her reality shows!

Tamar Braxton has escaped far beyond the shadow, once cast by her superstar sis, Toni, for quite some time now. You first fell in love with her no-filter attitude on the hit WE TV show, Braxton Family Values. And we got to know her even better on Tamar & Vince. But we soon learned she’s much more than a reality TV star.

2. “You tried it,” but you couldn’t quite hit her notes.

Tamar says she admires Mariah Carey’s vocal range, and it shows. This three-time Grammy nominated artist can’t stop making hits. From Love And War, to Let Me Know, to her latest hit, If I Don’t Have You. She finds herself continuously “Calling All Lovers” with her music, as her new album is fittingly titled.

3. She has no filter, but plenty of shade on The Real Talk Show.

Yep, she’s the co-host to watch. Always keeping it 100 on the hit BET show. Her unpredictable comments are no different than her music, we can’t wait to hear more.

4. “She, me, her” fashion line, “Tamar Collection,” is on fleek.

Did you know the fashionista has a stylish, quality-fashion line that is also extremely affordable? You can grab her “Tamartians Unite” shirt for only $4.99, and officially rep your title. [Click on your favorite below.]

5. She’s got range, she’s got fame, and now she’s got moves – “dot com.”

Just when you thought she would have enough on her plate, Tamar recently announced her newest venture on the hit show, Dancing With The Stars. It’s no secret, she’s a pro at being a “do-op pop pop girl,” but now she’s going to have to tango with the ballroom pros, and we can’t wait to see her do it!

Reinventing The Dashiki – The Newest Trend

Reinventing The Dashiki – The Newest Trend

The classic, colorful African print is constantly evolving into reinvented styles among dresses, purses and even men’s wear. The Dashiki has been publicly redefined in fashion with a modern twist, and we’ve seen it throughout social media time and time again.

Who can forget Kyemah McEntyre, the 18-year-old who designed her own African-inspired prom dress? She is the designer behind actress/singer, Naturi Naughton’s red carpet gown for the 2015 BET Awards.

The African prints don’t stop on the red carpet, take a look at some of my favorite Dashiki styles sweeping the streets.

In this mermaid-shaped number, I find the African textiles to be hitting all the right places on this caramel beauty. The bright orange and red, against a dark green base is a nice contrast. Not to mention, the train, following that classic African hour glass.

Here’s another dashiki-style, mermaid dress done in yellow and red. This couple did it right with their coordinating textiles. africancouple

You may call this look “daring,” but you can’t deny, sister is channelling her inner queen with this one. The different shapes of cut-outs, tie well with the various patterns of tribal textiles. Her fan-style shoulders are reminiscent of wings, but they are stiffly structured, symbolizing power. The inserted, upside-down triangular shape on the décolleté gives an edge, which goes well with the side cut-outs.

Now this top is giving me all the dashiki-life that I need! The blue shoulder details match perfectly with the jeans, giving it a stylish, casual look for the afro-headed model. The front shows the classic dashiki design, while on the reverse side, the textile breaks mid-back baring her coco brown skin.

If you’re like me, when you saw this, you gasped with love! This bold, beautiful purse spares no one in the world of dashiki! She didn’t even need a colorful dress to match. Her black midi with red heels allows her accessories to do all the talking – and it’s written all over her face.

This lady shows all the different possible variations of a simple wrap-around skirt dashiki. I love the purple and orange combination. Which one is your favorite look?

Head Wraps – A BOLD Fashion Statement

Head Wraps-

A BOLD Fashion Statement

Whether you’re going for the look of modesty, and confidence or edgy and artsy, a head wrap is sure to take your sense of style to a level that only makes other heads turn.

The head-scarf trend that’s seen sometimes on celebs, is more commonly worn throughout the world than you may think. For centuries, the unique accessory has been a necessity amongst women of all races and backgrounds.

Eykah Badu had the world buzzing about her one of a kind look, which was not common for the average African American female vocalist. She didn’t represent sensuality, but instead mentality.

Another recording artist who uses her head wrap as an official statement of her brand, is singer Yuna. Much different from Badu’s look, she has an effortless wrap whipped around her head. The look is simple, yet artistically interesting.

Porsha Stewart from the Real Housewives of ATL wore a head wrap in one of the ladies trips over seas. She created a simple island look that is cute and eye catching.

Brandy Norwood is no stranger to trying a variety of hairstyles and head wraps alike. If you follow her on Instagram [@4everBrandy] you are well aware that she enjoys her scarves and wears them often.

And who can forget Rihanna in that Swarovski crystallized head scarf that she wore to accept her CFDA Fashion Icon Award? Her hair was the only thing covered that night. Still – Rihanna beautifully tied her short wrap in a do-rag style with one simple knot in the back.

In another fashionable head wrap moment of Rihanna’s, she posed like a true Arabian goddess for Harper’s Bazaar. This scarf has the same twist detail as Porsha’s, but has an upside down V-cut on the forehead to give emphasis on the mind of a woman, [much like an Hindu woman’s red centered-dot] the creative angle of the scarf was no mistake here folks.

BrBLHNSCcAEMuCH

Nope, not only black people can rock a head scarf, the style has been featured in many high fashion editorials with models of all different races, including Kendall and Kylie Jenner for DuJour.

Here is a trio of the same sort of look with a head scarf. A large head wrap can give more body and boldness to top off the design.

Head wraps are a dominant requirement within the Islamic culture for muslim woman. Contrary to popular belief, its not a sign of oppression, but actually the standard of modesty for the middle east. Here are models Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner wearing their head wraps during their visit to Abu Dhabi. That’s right, women are required to dress modest in most places in the middle east.

And women are not the only ones who wear head covers over seas. The men can be seen wearing a Kufi or a Keffiyeh.

Here is fashion model, Omar Borkan Al Gala, wearing the Keffiyeh. And below him is rapper Nas sporting a Kufi – both fashionable and common within the Arabic and African culture.

#BalmainTakeover

#BALMAINTAKEOVER

I don’t know about you, but everywhere I turn, there is another Balmain creation taking the red carpet by storm!

From the Met Gala and the Billboard Awards, to the Cannes Film Festival, the french couture line seems to stay at the top of every celebrity best dressed list this year!

It’s no secret that the Kardashian/Jenner family promote the line as if they were hired to do so, but we can’t lie, the more you see the intricate details of this brand, the more you want to touch it with your own hands!

Well I guess promoting Balmain would come easy to a family whose besties with the designer.

But that is what makes the news of Balmain pairing up with H&M SO MUCH SWEETER!

It turns out, you don’t have to be rich and famous to dress like you’re rich and famous! Designer, Olivier Rousteing, is pairing up with H&M for an affordable collection of some of Balmain’s most sought after, classic looks. He made the announcement on the red carpet at the Billboard Awards, walking alongside these two models to promote a sneak peek of whats to come in the collection releasing November 5th.

HEY, just for spits and giggles [LOL], here are some of Vogue’s picks for Balmain’s most fab moments!

Live It On The Dance Floor & In Real Life! – Where are the Abandoned Dancers?

Live It On The Dance Floor & IN REAL LIFE! – Where are the Abandoned Dancers?

It’s no secret that Abby has her favorites when it comes to her “team” of young dancers. Famously excluding Chloe, sisters Paige and Brooke, and now Nia. The group of girls get smaller and smaller by the season. But does that mean that the success of those abandoned dancers shrunk as well?

Chloe!

If you follow Chloe on social media, you already know how much traveling she and her mother have been doing to promote Chloe’s career. Remember, although Maddie has made a name for herself in Sia’s videos, Chloe was the first dancer of the team to be featured in Lux’s “It’s Like Summer” music video, which aired Season 1.

In another video, “Love is Blindness,” Chloe has a similar role as Maddie did in Sia’s “Elastic Heart” video, where her dramatic dancing exemplifies a deeper artistic message. She is now onto yet another music video project with musician Jess Godwin.

Paige and Brooke…

are traveling the world and making appearances like Chloe, but have also spent a good amount of time focusing on school and connecting with fans through social media. As you can see, Brooke has a boyfriend who seems to be dazzled by her beauty in that mint Sherri Hill number, which Brooke says is one her favorite designers.

#NiaTakeover

And last but not least, the only original dance member on the team who is still waiting for Abby’s attention: Nia. But if you watched the latest episode of the Australia trip, neglect has not kept Nia from  being a star in her own life, as her newest song reflectively says. Since Abby left her and Jojo out of the ASTRA Awards gig, Nia put on a show of her own, and the packed audience was hype to see her perform.

And in comparison to Kendall and Mack Z’s musical sound, Nia’s song has a more main stream/pop feel to it. In her video, the music is coupled with striking and edgy dance moves, similar to Janet Jackson-style choreography. I must say, as a singer myself, her range is much more marketable. Her vocal ability can easily be compared to 33 year old singer, Christina Millian. Maybe that’s why Abby says she doesn’t like the image that was “given” to Nia, Abby is not known for edgy/pop choreography, perhaps she doesn’t understand the genre.

Nia is known for being a sweet and mature character on the show, which gives reason as to why she seemed to have no issue sharing the spot light with Jojo on stage, who also was treated like an outcast during the Australia visit. She joined in with Nia’s dancers for the show and there were even fans with big bows in their hair to support Jojo’s spunky style that Abby hates.

But despite Abby’s ignorance to Nia’s talents, the up and coming artist seems to be in good hands with the platform she’s being given by some of LA’s hit makers, like choreographer, Mikey Minden and vocal mentor, Aubrey O’Day.

It just goes to show, you don’t need the ALDC to be a “Star in your own life.”

Breaking Down A KimYe Relationship

We love them separately, yes of course. But do we love them together? I dont know about you but when we 1st seen +Kanye West make cameos on +Keeping Up With The Kardashians , he seemed to be completely different than the person we see on stage at award shows and on BET’s +106 and Park . None the less, he seems to be compatible with Kim being that she’s a Libra and he a Gemini. One of the strongest compatibiloties in the zodiac according to ILoveIndia.com. Although they seem like they could be a match made in heaven we also must take into consideration their lifestyles.

You’ve got Kim, who’s success comes from being a reality tv star. She litterally gets paid to have her life taped and aired on TV. She and her sisters also recently signed on for the next 3 years, seem to enjoy their line of work.

Then you have Kanye. Legendary rapper in his own right. A bit of a hot head when it comes to paparazzi, something the Kardashian family live for, or at least hold in great value, as credit for their careers. Following in his big brother Jay Z’s footsteps, he is reportedly refusing to be filmed on the show with his “baby mama” as he announced her as to the world, and remain a private celebrity.

How will the E! network take this dramatic change in dynamic? Kanye has made it clear that his work wont stop for the baby, so Kim has booked a tour bus to tag along once the baby is born. I don’t know about you, but I can’t think of one new mother that would want to be on the road at concerts everyday. +Wendy Williams said on the +Ellen Degeneres  show that she believes Kim is on her way to becoming a “single mother.” Maybe because a man who is serious about his family would not address her as a baby mama but as a WIFE. Or at the very least “Wifey” isnt that what she deserves? Even if she is engaged for some odd years, it’s better than being called a baby mama! +Rob Kardashian said in an interview that their father would not like them getting knocked up by people who they are not married to. Maybe thats why +Khloe Kardashian and her husband +Lamar Odom have lasted so long. Even Khloe said that Lamar was holding out sex until they were wed.

What about the family she is joining? Did anyone see Beyonce, Kanye’s family or any black people for that matter at the baby shower? [Aside from Nene] Theres goes that support system. I feel bad for Kim because not only is she going through the biggest transition women go through in a lifetime, but she is being picked on for being bigger than normal. It’s like HELLO PEOPLE having a child inside of you for nine months is not normal, you are feeding for two instead of one! Who’s to say what your body should look like? Kourtney’s pregnant body?? Umm she was clearly more petite than Kim from the beginning.

All in all guys, we love her and although this may sound like a recipe for disaster we must pray for them and pray that the lessons meant to be learned, certainly are.

The Hidden Colors of the World – Race & Culture

The Hidden Colors of the World – Race & Culture

Forget what you know about black America, Africa, Europe and the remainder of human history stops here.  Do I have your attention? Maybe you are much too ignorant to care. Those of you who don’t care are part of the reason America has the reputation it has today. You are one of countless who bought into the plot of American society. The plot that was made to hate and reject ourselves, let alone the fellow black people around us. No matter how much you hate to admit it, there is something embedded inside of us that questions our beauty while comparing it to those of lighter skin. Thoughts like, “why weren’t I born like the girl with the tamable hair and pretty eyes?” Or “why does my culture have the reputation of a lack of intelligence or worthiness?” Well, unless, of course, it has to do with being a skilled musician or athlete. We have adjusted to the culture of the “majority.” And in conclusion, we have no motivation or inspiration to EVER visit our homeland. We possess shame and have no idea why.

Hidden Colors is a film that exposes the mentality of the modern day black American. Among many other factors, it gives an in-depth explanation of how black America has been manipulated into a mindset of negative subconsciousness.

WATCH HiDDEN COLORS NOW!

Oprah took the subject to another level when she spoke with a few of black Hollywood’s heavy hitting actresses on an episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter. #GabrielleUnion , #ViolaDavis, #AlfreWoodard, and #PhyliciaRashad were called the “Cinema Sisters” on this episode. Gabrielle explained her experience fighting for the spotlight in the entertainment industry as one of the few black actresses competing for a role. She stated she would tear other black females down for stealing roles under her feet because, in the acting world, roles for black women are limited and if a beauty like Halle Berry walks in the room it can tear your confidence down. Simply because she is the lighter black woman, therefore she is considered prettier and more likely to be booked for a role over Union.

To those of you who did find interest in the first line, some of the answers you never even knew you wanted are about to be answered. #LilWayne started controversy with the lyric, “I know what they don’t wanna tell you,” he was surely NOT talking about the research revealed in Hidden Colors. Yes, even “#LilTunechi is ignorant to this information, and if he did have this knowledge, it would make complete sense as to why there are countless articles and google links about how he “sold his soul to the devil.” He, potentially, made an agreement to get fat checks for promoting the black image to be nothing other than a horny, dollar worshiping, thug. Its easy to see how some rappers are praised for promoting immoral ignorance in the black culture.

Ignorantly, blacks have been trained to equate #Africa with #slavery, and therefore we are embarrassed of our history. When in reality slavery is an irrelevant factor when speaking on the true essence of African history. It’s the smallest piece of the puzzle if a puzzle piece at all! Our minds have been trained to think a specific way and live a certain lifestyle. Even an IQ test is no exception. Hidden Colors also speaks about other minorities, like Mexicans, and how they too work as talented contractors. Although known as the minority race, we are the best builders, the best hunters and yet have been brainwashed to need none other than the a white man to succeed. When we hear the founders of some of the most biggest explorations and artifacts in history, like the Big Ben in London, we think, “Ben,” an predominantly white person name, when it is actually named after an African hero. The documentary even explains how Christopher Columbus had Africans with him when discovering America, who were believed to have found America long before Columbus. There is reason to believe Columbus was introduced to America, making him much less than a discoverer of the country. But of course, as the majority race in control, he gets the praise. Because blacks were, and in some instances still are a second thought. We work for the founders, we are the helpers, we are not the face of the company, we help the company’s face.

Hidden Colors makes you question things you wouldn’t normally care to ask. Giving the answers that slave masters then, and the executives today try to keep from you. Like how the media continuously promotes positivity within the majority race making the statistical rate of biracial couples grow. Not always because of love but partly as a future investment to have brighter children so the majority can remain in control, continuing to take the credit for all the successes made by a black person. Don’t forget why Obama was allegedly said to be accepted amongst politicians and sponsors. The less you consider yourself black, the better for them and the more their plan is working. OWN also aired a documentary called Light Girls, where the subject of the “one drop rule” was brought up. Where if a person had one drop African DNA, it holds dominance in your overall title of the person’s ethnicity. Hidden Colors explains the real reasons we check off our race on tests such as the SATs and IQ tests.

There are three parts to the Hidden Colors documentary, so much knowledge shared, its hard to believe there is that much disclosed information. Although I have only seen the first so far, I found myself relating the information to my own experiences, asking myself things like, “why is it that if you speak proper English, or appear educated and lacking ebonics, then your acting white?” Not only is it insultingly ignorant, it only makes those who would think such a thing, look as if they are accepting the ignorant label!

If we are so ignorant, the countless inventions, including the fire extinguisher, electric lamp, and the printing press, would have never been invented. These are just three of some of the most important uses in human history. Hidden Colors explains how the piano was created by an African who transformed an African instrument into the shape of a heart and then made the keys into what we see today as a piano. The film explains that African immigrants who traveled here for school are always highly intelligent students, scoring higher than any other race including Asian!

We have so much that we could be proud of, including the beautiful life and land of Africa, yet America fails to promote it. Its arguable that Africa is only seen on TV as the place with diseased, hungry children, who need 0.20 cents a day to live. Our homeland carries the most beautiful stories where our culture and history began!

Even with the information mentioned in this blog, there’s simply too many subjects unexplained and unknown in this world. Some we may never know or entirely understand. I will leave you with some inspiring words spoken in the movie Selma:

I know the blood descendants of mighty people who gave civilization to the world. People who survived the holes of slave ships across vast oceans, people innovate, create and loved, despite pressures and tortures unimaginable. They are in our bloodstream pumping our hearts every second. They have prepared you…you are already prepared.

Black is Power

Black is Smart

Black is Beautiful

Feeling Misunderstood?

It’s not what you say, it is how you say it

Men are already difficult to communicate with, but I have found that my boyfriend is an amazing conversationist when he considers and analyzes what he wants to say, you know, thinks before he speaks. Whenever he immediately reacts to my arguable comments, there is a trigger that takes him for 0 to 10. On the other hand, when he walks away, takes a break, or pauses even for a minute, he responds so much more calm and with clear thoughts. Some people say they are more comfortable texting because they can simply think of exactly what they want to say in a more precise and more relevant way. Ladies, there is nothing wrong with letting a man take a break and get his mind together, sometimes that freedom gives them peace of mind which will in turn do the same for you.

Victoria, from YouTube’s “Ask Victoria” says communication is the super glue that holds people together. Even if it is your mom/dad, friend etc. You have to

be able to tell how you feel because more than likely you may not be emotionally ready to show it as accurately. She explains in the following video that a healthy way to begin better communication is by using words like

“I feel ___, because I think___”

When you explain how you feel followed by what you think it shares your perspective of the situation without accusing. GREAT VIDEO

Females and Fathers

Most women and girls alike don’t seem to realize that the very men they are attracted to are exactly like their own dads. They may not see it in front of their face but they will soon come to learn that the qualities they seek for their mate to posses is usually the same qualities in the father. After all, isn’t that your 1st example of a man? Your father was truely your 1st love. You were raised to believe that this is who you are supposed to define and determine a man to be. Be careful when accepting men into your life, most women don’t even take a second to think up a requirement list of who a man should be in fitting their needs. Now, I am not speaking of 100 bulletins like how tall and rich he should be. +Steve Harvey ‘s Act Like A Lady movies will explain that. I am speaking of the traits that will help comfort you as a women who is more than worthy of being by his side. What are the things you know and need that will make you want to be a better more nourishing women to him everyday? What does he have to prove to you before he can even get the digits to your number, your address, your attention?? Isn’t taking some time to analyze a man better than leaving yet another relationship heartbroken and resentful.

Remember, everything that happens is your karma and God makes no mistake in timing. There is always something you could have done to prevent or lesson a failed relationship. If and when he decides he cant live up to your standards let him leave, do not consider that a failure. Consider it a triumph because you were present enough to see it ending that way and for you to know that you can only move up from here. People are so quick to jump to the next mate tagging along those same issues because you never took the time to grieve them out your life. Moving on means moving through!! You will never know the lesson you must get if you don’t ask to see it. Don’t be the child that constantly puts her hand on the stove, hoping the heat has gone down. Be the Devine Girl who turns it off before the whole house burns down.

We as females are more mature then men. We know exactly what to ask, how to speak, and what to say. It is our ego and longing for some attention that gets in the way. Well I want to suggest that the very things that are in the way are the very things that will stop you from moving forward.

What A Woman Wants – Hip Hop Influence on Relationships

So today I was on +Instagram and was looking at +Wiz Khalifa ‘s wife, Amber Rose’s pregnant pics. To me, she comes off to be such a classy female who honestly wouldn’t go for a man who promotes recreational, illegal smoking. I couldn’t help but imagine what an interview with her would be like, I thought about the strategical questions to ask and the calculated responses I may get, as I do many people. My curiosity would consist of questions like….

-What makes you feel Wiz is your soul mate?

-Is Wiz aloud to smoke in the house?
-Are you around him when he smokes?
-Do you ever worry about his health in the future?
-What do you perceive his image to be? Whats a misconception about him that the rest of the world sees?
-What qualities do you hope your son take from Wiz? Why is that important to you?
-When the baby is born, what is the most recognizable scent it will have of it’s father?
-What age will the baby be aloud to smoke weed?

The truth is these are questions she is probably asking herself, and if she isn’t  she should be, because she will find the answers soon enough. Why is it that we refuse to ask questions? We live on an impulse and ignore our heart speaking to our conscious. The young generation who follow the celebrities in hip hop, are being taught to have the same lack of thought.

My younger teenage cousin was singing a song in our car ride to the store, and when I asked for an explanation of the message, she shrugged. Maybe she was lying and maybe not, but she made a choice at that moment, to ignore the thought process of her consciousness. If she can’t or doesn’t care to explain it, why does the music feed her enjoyment? My explanation – The subconscious is being groomed into enjoying lyrics that she is ignorant to. And with enjoyment can lead to acting out on a story she had no true relation or relevance with.

A wise person once said:

“Watch your thoughts, they become words;

watch your words, they become actions;

watch your actions, they become habits;

watch your habits, they become character;

watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”

Why are music lines such as, “I sweat no bitches, I sweat out weaves,” said by rapper Wale, a catchy line that women choose to sing along with? Is this what we want? To embrace and celebrate a man who thinks correlates woman to bitches, and only sees her value under the covers when her weave is sweated out? We blame the musical beat for the real reasoning of entertainment, but this is precisely how the enemy tricks the subconscious mind into thinking that the action is appropriate. Many fans sing along with lyrics, they have no real interest in those lyrics are no different. We don’t choose to break down what were repeating, and essentially reciting into the universe…

I sweat no bitches ….. I don’t care about females

I sweat out weaves ….. I only care to fuck them.

AKA: If they aint fuckin I dont fuck with em’.

The enemy wants us to fall so in love with the beat, the sexy rapper, and of course the money he SAYS he has so that we value that attraction and ignore the words were saying. BUT, what we miss in the equation is the overall trick: as we fill our mind with these seemingly “meaningless” words, we are subconsciously remembering them, then eventually acting them out, slowly but surely, day to day. Anything you tell your mind will eventually come to light.

ASK YOURSELF:

Is my destiny to become a bitch who isn’t good for nothing but fucking?

#TheTruth: Some females won’t dare look into the mirror and ask this question, or worse, they don’t understand the depth and importance in the questioning. Maybe its because they are insecure or don’t have the courage to actually stop and size themselves up with an answer. Then theres always the female who answers the question in all honesty, but goes on to ignore it and keep doing what her man wants, thinking he’s different or things will get better.

No boo boo! Take it from Maya Angelo,

“when someone shows you who they are, believe them”

We can’t control other’s vision for themselves, but we can focus on bettering our own lives. Here’s a start:

WHO ARE YOU?

WHO ARE YOU BECOMING?

WHO DO YOU WANT TO BE?

An old friend of mines posted a status, saying that she wished she listened to the voice in her head sometimes…

My reply:

“lol same here! it took 22 years and a fed up broken heart… then i did alot of reading/research on relationships and love and it helped me understand the importance of that voice. Its funny cause I would always think of the voice I ignored after the fact lol. Then I’m pissed at myself, and theres no one else to blame but me. You are your worst enemy and best friend. BIG LESSON: NObody can watch out for you/have your back like you can! …. People break promises but not when its to yourself and theres no better feeling than being proud of yourself!”
